Created in secret in a lab at the Vulcan Science Institute, P'Kesh pretends to not be an Artificial Lifeform while working on Vulcan. Its creator, Hexce, helps it get settled on the planet and in whatever job he recommends to it. As time goes on and it gets settled into the flow of life, it starts viewing Hexce as a father of sorts. P'Kesh is very, very happy to help him do his work.
One day, Hexce suddenly pulls P'Kesh out of its job and tells it that they need to escape Vulcan. Confused but trusting of its father, it follows him. Once they're far enough away from the planet, Hexce explains to P'Kesh that he was using it to gather intelligence from the institute and the rest of the people on Vulcan. Feeling betrayal, P'Kesh sits in silence for a long while, which upsets her creator even more. He confronts her, demanding it act like a proper Romulan and tell him how it feels about this instead of keeping it to itself. P'Kesh, swallowing her anger, informs him that he should have considered that desire before integrating her into Vulcan society.
While escaping federation space, the Enterprise intercepts them and takes Hexce into custody, saving P'Kesh from him and giving her a place to stay while she figures out what to do next. While staying on the ship, she discovers that they know about the Borg, which triggers memories hidden in its programming. It finds that its father hid the knowledge of a blood pact he had made with some friends to find a Betazoid, Ficus, that disappeared one day and this new information made it all click for her. With the help of the crew, she finds the contact for one of the Klingons in the pact and gives her the information found. P'Kesh takes its creator's place in the pact and helps rescue Ficus.
After the rescue is successful, she stays with the Enterprise crew, overall unsure where to go next.
Ficus: She feels bad for them, but they aren't overly close. P'Kesh knows her creator was looking for them, so she helps, but after that, she's left conflicted on whether or not she should continue talking to them or not.
Hexce: Its creator/father. It also feels as though he is its "dad," but as it learns more of his motives, it works hard to put all emotions regarding him aside, opting to view him in a solely professional light.
Vilith: --- --- --- --- --- ---- ----- --- ------ ---- ------ -- ----- ---- --------- --- ----- -----. ----- -- -------- --- ----- ------ ---- ----.
Zalorr: She feels slightly annoyed be his aloofness, but disregards that. She's very pleased to see his progress wherever he manages it, but she worries that's because her creator made her see the potential in him against her will.
